Peter F. Barry is a
licensed attorney admitted to practice in the State of Minnesota
and a partner of Barry & Slade, LLC. His practice is dedicated
exclusively to protecting consumers against illegal debt
collection activity. He was recently named by his peers as a Super
Lawyer® for 2003 and 2004 by Minnesota Law & Politics Magazine. He
was named as Consumer Lawyer of the Year by the National
Association of Consumer Advocates for 2005-2006.
In 1996, Barry graduated from William Mitchell College of Law in
St. Paul, Minnesota where he competed nationally on the school's
trial advocacy team and won top honors for his appellate work.
Barry did extensive clinical work with several organizations
including the Ramsey County Public Defenders Office, Legal
Assistance to Minnesota Prisoners, and the St. Paul Tenants Union.
He opened his law practice directly out of law school and has been
enjoying his private plaintiff's practice ever since. Barry
frequently appears in local and national news stories discussing
consumer rights issues.
Barry volunteers annually with the Minnesota State Bar
Association's High School Mock Trial Program as a judge. He also
devotes volunteer time to various William Mitchell clinical
programs and maintains an ongoing pro-bono legal services
commitment in the area of consumer rights. In 2003, Barry was
named an adjunct Professor of Law at William Mitchell College of
Law where he has taught Consumer Rights Law for the past four
years.
In addition to being admitted to practice in Minnesota and
Wisconsin state and federal courts, Barry was also recently
admitted to the United States Supreme Court. He was born in San
Jose, California in 1964 and lives in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Nicholas
P. Slade is a licensed attorney admitted to practice in
the State of Minnesota and a partner in Barry & Slade, LLC. His
practice focuses exclusively on protecting consumers’ rights.
In 1996, Slade graduated from Hamline University School of Law in
St. Paul Minnesota. During law school, Slade worked as a student
certified attorney with the Ramsey County Public Defenders Office.
After graduation he continued to work with the Public Defenders
Office until opening his own law practice in 1997. Originally
practicing criminal defense, Slade switched to consumer rights in
2000.
Slade was born in Minneapolis in 1962, and except for serving 3
years on active duty with the U.S. Army has lived in the Twin
Cities. He currently lives in St. Louis Park, with his wife and 2
children. He has been on the Board of Directors for the Franconia
Sculpture Park in Shafer Minnesota since 1997. He also has been
volunteering through the Minneapolis Park Board as a wrestling
coach for kids ages 6-14 since 1985.
